A message from the Beach Patrol Committee:
The Middlesex/Indian Beach Patrol is going to Nationals in Virginia Beach on August 9-11. The team has been working hard preparing themselves to represent their patrol as well as the Sussex County Lifesaving Association. During the three-day event, the guards will participate in many different events that simulate lifesaving activities.
The following guards listed will be attending the event, some of their accomplishments are also listed:
- Justin Voorheis – Captain – 3rd Open International Ironman and Surf Ski/1st in age for Mid Atlantic Region.
- Events entered at Nationals: International Ironman, Ironman, Swim, Paddle, Run-Swim-Run, Taplin Relay, Surf Ski Age, Surf Ski Open.
- Holden Wingate – Lieutenant – 6th 4×100 Sprint Relay in Mid Atlantic Region. 6th in Paddle Mid Atlantic Region, 8th in Ironman Mid Atlantic Region.
- Events entered at Nationals: Ironman, 4×100 Sprint Relay, Taplin Relay, Paddle, Run-Swim-Run, Beach Flags, 2k Run.
- Drew Mulcahy – Lieutenant – 6th 4×100 Sprint Relay in Mid Atlantic Region.
- Events entered at Nationals: 4×100 Sprint Relay.
- Mitch McGee – 5th in Paddle Mid Atlantic Region, 6th in Ironman Mid Atlantic Region.
- Events entered at Nationals: Ironman, Taplin Relay, Swim, Paddle, Run-Swim-Run, 2k run, Beach Flags.
- Billy Swontek – 6th 4×100 Sprint Relay in Mid Atlantic Region.
- Events entered at Nationals: 4×100 Sprint Relay.
- Cooper Shawver – 6th 4×100 Sprint Relay in Mid Atlantic Region.
- Events entered at Nationals: 4×100 Sprint Relay.
